Minutes, 1895 Apr. 24-1900 Feb. 20, in a bound volume, of the organizers, stockholders, and board of directors of the company, describing the creation of that company in 1895 and its operation thenceforth. The volume also includes a rough draft of the company's articles of incorporation, a list ofthe company's first officers, a list of individuals who attended the organizational meeting, a subscription contract for the raising of capital through the selling of stock, a list of the original subscribers, the by-laws; assets and liabilities statements, 1898 Mar. 11, 1898 July 2, 1899 July 2, and 1900 Feb.1; an audit report, 1898 Aug. 24, a full audit report, 1899 July 14, and notices of stockholders' meetings.

The company was organized in Selma, Dallas Co., Ala., in 1895. Ernest Lamar provided the original impetus on April 24 of that year, by making an informal proposal to a group of Selma investors. They then elected W.R. Nelson as Chairman of the investors, F.M. Stillwell as Secretary, and Ernest Lamar as head of the feasibility committee, and M.A. Keith and M.J. Meyer also were placed on that committee. After deciding the project was feasible, Lamar was elected the next week as chairman of the boar...
